Blood Orange Pisco Sour


Makes 1 drink

3 ounces pisco

1 ½ ounces simple syrup

Juice of ½ blood orange

1 egg white

Freshly grated black pepper


Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add pisco, simple syrup, blood orange juice, and egg white.  Cover shaker and shake vigorously for 1 minute. You want the egg really frothy.


Strain cocktail into a rocks glass, top with a grating of black pepper and serve immediately.

Pisco is a brandylike liquor, popular in South American winemaking regions. My favorite kind is made from fragrant muscat grapes — perfect for a blood orange pisco sour.
