A true daiquiri has very little in common with the saccharine, tropical-fruit-garnished behemoths of spring break bars around the globe. The real deal gracefully balances rum, citrus and sugar and is NOT frozen. This one is gussied up with grapefruit and elderflower, and trust me…it’s better than the imitation.
Makes 1 drink
3 ounces white rum
Juice of 1 lime
1 ounce elderflower liqueur
1 grapefruit, for zesting
In a shaker, combine rum, lime juice, and elderflower liqueur. Zest half of the grapefruit into the shaker, top with ice and shake until ice cold.
Strain cocktail over a collins glass filled with crushed ice. Grate a finishing touch of grapefruit zest on top and drink up!
